Smoking is a behavior that is seen as an act of rebellion, a form of social acceptance, or an escape route in times of stress
One New Year’s resolutions most often repeated is to quit. You’ve heard countless times that your will is the main ally at the time to do it, and it really is true. Be convinced, be aware that you will never prove it, is the basis for a good start to reach that decision point in which strips away the rest of the package of snuff that is left in your pocket.
If you set out to quit in 2011, now is the time. Although there will be no easy task, of course. Suffer from anxiety, pass the “cute” and not either the first or the second is most common. Perhaps you’ve tried to quit several times without success, but actually you’ve ever thought “this is definitely not want to go back or smell? Only when you really determined to quit and stay quit and a cigarette never get real.
A long process
Smoking is a behavior that is seen as an act of rebellion, a form of social acceptance, or an escape route in times of stress. And many of smokers start with the snuff when they are new in a group (in high school, college, work …) and what begins as a gesture of empathy, just being an addiction. The hardening of reform of the law of snuff from the Government of Spain is a way to help reduce smoking, and in many cases, will be a final push to quit for good. But more important is the awareness itself.
When you decide to quit smoking, it should be noted that the process involves several stages: the early days, thanks to nicotine still has blood, not usually so hard and barely missing. But suddenly the day comes when the desire to return to snuff is increasing. That’s when the first symptoms are noted: fluctuations in the character, nervous to the surface … At this point, there are some products on the market that may be helpful: electronic cigarette, nicotine patches, gum …
But first and foremost is to maintain the will and remember every morning by what you decide to quit.
Remember some numbers work
It is important to note that:
• There are over four million deaths a year worldwide by direct and indirect causes related to snuff. Moreover, the WHO expects the number of deaths per year could be as high as 12 million (more than triple) in 2030.
• The latest data show that in Spain there are more than 50,000 deaths a year from smoking, of which about 3,000 are passive smokers.
• Smoking kills 3 times more than alcohol, AIDS, drugs, traffic accidents, homicides and suicides … at a time.
• Remember that lost 7 minutes of life for each cigarette smoked.
• But above all it is important to know that 45% of smokers who try to quit will be successful.
And you’ll help increase that percentage!
