Smoking and Cardiovascular Risk

Stop SmokingCigarette smoking and colesterol like high cholesterol are risk factors that also interact with each other, determine an inconsistency in maintaining cardiovascular health. Given this situation it is important to stress the importance of maintaining a healthy heart without snuff, because cigarette smoking is not only related to increased blood fats, but directly determines an increased cardiovascular risk.

Smoking is a major risk factor to be considered to prevent dyslipidemia and maintain cardiovascular health.

Why smoking and cardiovascular health are incompatible?

* Snuff smoke enters the lungs, passes into the bloodstream and reaches the heart through the coronary arteries that supply. This smoke comes with nicotine and carbon monoxide, substances that reduce the blood supply and can produce ischemia by reducing the concentration of oxygen in the heart muscle.
* Nicotine damages the artery walls, allowing the formation of atheroma, which reduce the size of them.
* Carbon monoxide displaces oxygen in the blood, increases plasma cholesterol and platelet aggregation.

Considering how smoking acts on cardiovascular health, to maintain a healthy heart is necessary to have a life without cigarettes. It is proven that the snuff is responsible for up to 30% of coronary heart disease.

Smoking and hypercholesterolemia jointly further increase the risk of heart disease, as the snuff increases fat oxidation, reduce the action of antioxidants and therefore allows LDL or bad cholesterol accumulates in a plaque, which blocks the normal flow of blood.

Remember that your life is unique; a habit like smoking can cause serious health problems. Remember not to smoke your heart will thank you.
